Beginning Oil Painting

Course Description

This week-long summer camp will introduce students to the basics of oil painting. Oil paint is the most flexible and advanced painting medium, it creates radiant and lasting artworks, and artists have used it throughout history to create a range of effects. This class will give have a chance to learn how to use this challenging and rewarding material, while advancing their own painting skills. All levels of artistic experience are welcome. Students will take home a starter kit of oil paints, brushes and mediums, so that they can continue to paint on their own after the class ends.

Meet Mrs. Holmberg

Mrs. Holmberg is a Middle and Upper School Visual Art teacher at Sierra Canyon. She received her MFA in Painting from UCLA where she taught drawing, painting, and art theory as a graduate student. Before coming to Sierra Canyon, she was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Drawing at CalSate Fullerton as well as at Wesleyan University in Connecticut.

    • Materials fee (not included in course fee): $100/per student
    There is a 12 student limit per session.
