This Spanish immersion course will give students the opportunity to develop vocabulary and understanding of a broad range of mathematical topics starting with the counting system and moving up through a general overview of Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus. Students will engage in daily discussions in Spanish (in large group and small groups) and work to independently produce materials appropriate to the Math and Spanish classes they have previously enrolled in. We will place an emphasis on mathematical problem-solving in that area of math and on conceptual understanding of mathematical ideas in general.
This course will give students the opportunity to develop their communication skills and consider how thinking about a topic in a different language can deepen their understanding of Math as well as English and Spanish.
