Sierra Canyon Receives Grant to Implement Solar Array
Sierra Canyon School is excited to announce the receipt of a $185,000 grant from The Ahmanson Foundation to support the installation of a solar array on the Upper Campus Gymnasium.
This will substantially reduce the environmental footprint of the school, as the Gymnasium has become one of the most in-demand locations on campus, the result of growth in the athletics program.
The Ahmanson Foundation is known for its funding of cultural projects supporting the arts, education at the collegiate and pre-collegiate levels, medicine and delivery of health care services, specialized library collections, programs related to homelessness and low-income populations, preservation of the environment, and a wide range of human service projects. The vast majority of the Foundation’s philanthropy is directed toward organizations and institutions based in and serving the greater Los Angeles community.
Sierra Canyon School is a private, independent, non-sectarian, co-educational, college preparatory school for students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12 located in Chatsworth, California. The highly cosmopolitan campus community is reflective of the Greater Los Angeles area and the world at large. Students are empowered to realize their greatest creative, ethical, intellectual and physical promise through small class sizes, a diverse student-teacher culture and a family-like environment.
