Fifth Grade Sends Support to American Military Members

For their Service Learning project this year, the fifth grade Olympians gave back to those who serve in the military to protect us on a daily basis.
This Monday and Wednesday, the fifth grade class visited For the Troops in Simi Valley. For the Troops is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to providing members of the American military with “We Care” packages containing basic necessities, goodies, games, and—most of all—a show of support. Prior to attending this event, fifth grade students graciously donated over 100 pounds of those basic necessities. While there, the Class of 2027 helped sort items ranging from socks, magazines, and stationary, to canned fruit, soups, and candy.

A tremendous sense of pride and appreciation was felt by all, as the students made meaningful cards to accompany their boxed goods for the men and women serving overseas. This was a truly unforgettable and rewarding experience and will serve as an everlasting memory for the Class of 2027!
