Sierra Canyon’s AP Program Makes School History

Sierra Canyon’s Advanced Placement Program is getting stronger every year.

Last year, 209 Upper School students sat for 462 AP exams. In the middle of March, all students were sent home to complete the remainder of their classes online. Despite this loss of precious classroom time in these highly regimented and tightly scheduled courses, Sierra Canyon AP Scholars came through with an impressive 85% pass ratethe highest in Sierra Canyon history! Although the rate for 2020 has not been released yet, the average national pass rate for 2019 was 61%.
Sierra Canyon offers 25 AP courses on the Upper Campus. Students who wish to enroll in an AP course must get department approval first, and then must take the AP Exam in May. We congratulate all of our AP Scholars and their incredible instructors who not only made it through rigorous coursework, but also exceeded all expectations in these difficult times.
