Lower School Spelling Bee Was All the Buzz

Ten 5th and 6th Grade class finalists participated in the annual Spelling Bee on Tuesday, January 17, in the Lower School Amphitheater.

"It was a pleasure to have both parents and students attend the Spelling Bee," said Mrs. Laura Reardon-Childs, Spelling Bee Moderator, 6th Grade English Teacher, and Lower School English Language Arts Coordinator. "Students in Grades 3rd–6th joined the event to cheer on their fellow Trailblazers. Family members of the contestants who could not attend in person could watch the competition virtually through a Livestream. The contestants all acquitted themselves admirably, leading to over fifteen rounds of sensational spelling."

In the final rounds, Juniper D. '29 and Ryan R. '30 were the remaining spellers. After multiple nail-biting championship rounds, Juniper correctly spelled the winning word: micaceous. She will represent Sierra Canyon at the Scripps Regional Spelling Bee, and Ryan will be the alternate for that event.
Congratulations to all our participants: Matti M. '29, Juniper D. '29, Gemma R. '29, Mila H. '29, Nirvahn F. '29, Ryan R. '30, Milinda G. '30, Camryn P. '30, Liam Z. '30, and Alexi R. '30.

Our Trailblazers did a G-R-E-A-T job!
