Celebrating Fall Events with the Parent Association

This fall, the Parent Association has been hard at work planning a series of exciting events, promising our community a season filled with fun and unity.

On Tuesday, November 14, the Parent Association hosted its first Parent Wellness Event of the 2023-2024 school year, focusing on strategies for helping our children manage stress. Led by Michael Wetter, PsyD, FAPA (Leah '27), this presentation entitled, Productive, Destructive & Toxic – 3 faces of Adolescent Stress, explored various sources of adolescent stress, how coping with stressful situations can lead to resilience, and when to it is time to intervene. Dr. Wetter closed his presentation with a Q&A session, which allowed even more personalized guidance related to supporting our children. This insightful and informative presentation was attended by parents of Lower and Upper Campus students and held in the Rubin Family Library (Lower Campus). We invite you to reach out if you have any recommendations for a topic for us to address this spring.

Earlier this month, the Parent Association hosted a Fall Family Fun Night at Dave & Buster's, attended by more than 300 Lower School students and parents. They had the whole venue to themselves, where families enjoyed exciting games and great food while spending the evening with new and old SC friends.

Additionally, on Tuesday, November 21, the Lower Campus will welcome more than 500 guests at our annual Grandparents and Friends Day. This historically beloved event, held on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving Break, has featured grade-level performances and speeches from our Founders. This year, it will take place outside our new Gymnasium and Multipurpose Center. Each grade has planned a meaningful morning with activities, games, and crafts designed to create lasting memories. Over 40 parent volunteers will be on hand to set tables and guide our special guests throughout the event. Celebrating Grandparents and Friends Day perfectly expresses our gratitude for our families and the Sierra Canyon community.

We eagerly await all the upcoming events in the spring. For more information or ways to get involved, please email SCSPA@sierracanyonschool.org.

Wishing you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving!
