  • In what grades does Sierra Canyon School enroll international students?

    Sierra Canyon enrolls international students in grades 8-12. Students in grade 7 may enroll at Sierra Canyon if a parent or relative plans to reside with them in the local area.
  • Are scholarships or financial aid available for international students?

    Scholarships and financial aid are not available for international students. For the 2017-2018 school year, tuition is: 

    • $72,400 for grades 9-12 with homestay
    • $58,900 for grade 8 with homestay
    Tuition is for one year and includes agent fee, books, medical insurance meals (breakfast and dinner provided by homestay family + $900 on-campus lunch account), program feeds (mandatory trips), and I-20. It does not include personal expenses.
  • Does Sierra Canyon School enroll international students mid-year?

    Sierra Canyon does not enroll international students mid-year or for the spring term. All international applicants are required to apply for fall enrollment.
  • Does Sierra Canyon School issue the I-20 student visa?

    Yes, Sierra Canyon issues the I-20 student visa to students after they have been admitted to the School and pay their enrollment deposit.
  • Is there a homestay program?

    Yes, Sierra Canyon offers a homestay program. Homestay parent candidates are evaluated extensively for the program. Great time and care is placed into pairing international students with homestay families, taking into consideration the students' homestay survey responses. While Sierra Canyon tries to accommodate individual student requests, we are unable to guarantee that all requests can be accommodated. Students are encouraged to embrace the exciting opportunity of living with an American family and learning about a new culture.
  • Is on-campus housing available?

    Very limited on-campus premium housing is available. Students may contact the Sierra Canyon School Admission Office for additional information.
  • What does Sierra Canyon School look for in international applicants?

    Sierra Canyon is looking for high achieving international students who are interested in pursuing the remainder of their high school career at the School. (Sierra Canyon does not enroll international students for a 1-semester or 1-year exchange program.) International students must have strong academic ability and proficiency in written and spoken English. Ideal candidates are passionate about experiencing a new culture and contributing to the Sierra Canyon School community beyond the classroom. Sierra Canyon looks for students who want to take advantage of the rich learning that stems from living with a homestay family and getting involved in clubs, sports, and activities on campus.
  • Does Sierra Canyon School offer English as a Second Language (ESL) classes?

    No, Sierra Canyon does not offer ESL classes. Students must have strong proficiency in English in order to be admitted to the School. Non-native speakers of English must submit the TOEFL (minimum score = 85) or Junior TOEFL (minimum score = 70) exam results as part of the application process.
  • Are Advanced Placement (AP) courses available?

    Yes, Sierra Canyon offers a premier independent school education that includes over 25 Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Students pursue a rigorous curriculum designed to prepare students for entry into the top universities in the United States and abroad.
  • How many international students attend Sierra Canyon School?

    The Upper Campus at Sierra Canyon School consists of 550 students in grades 7-12. Ten percent of the students are international. Countries represented on campus include: Brazil, China, Montenegro, Taiwan, Russia, and Vietnam. Sierra Canyon welcomes international students from across the globe.
  • Are campus tours available?

    Yes, campus tours are available Monday through Friday. Weekend tours are not available. Please contact the Sierra Canyon School Admission Office as soon as you are planning a trip to determine tour availability.
