Arts Overview

The Fine Arts Department offers all students at Sierra Canyon an opportunity for creative expression and artistic development. With rich course offerings in both the Performing and Visual Arts, our program extends from Pre-Kindergarten – 12th grade, and it is designed to encourage students to challenge themselves and to explore the depth and breadth of the arts.

Goals of the Fine Arts Program

  • Develop cognitive and affective growth in the understanding of art
  • Develop vocabulary and language of art
  • Use of line, shape, form, color, pattern, design, and composition in student's own work
  • Express ideas visually with growing confidence
  • Develop aesthetic feelings by providing ample opportunities to reflect on forms of beauty
  • Develop growing appreciation of a variety of famous works of art
  • Develop enjoyment of visual art as a form of personal creative expression
Sierra Canyon School is a private, independent, non-sectarian, co-educational, college preparatory school for students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12 located in Chatsworth, California. The highly cosmopolitan campus community is reflective of the Greater Los Angeles area and the world at large.
