Study Skills

Sierra Canyon School offers a summer Study Skills class to all entering 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students to prepare for the transition to the Upper Campus and Sierra Canyon’s challenging curriculum.

Date & Time:
  • 7th Grade: July 24th – July 28th NO SPOTS AVAILABLE
  • 8th Grade: July 31st – August 4th
  • 9th Grade: August 7th – August 11th
  • NEWLY ADDED - 7th Grade: August 14th – August 18th 
  • 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. each day

This course is designed to focus on the basic study skills required throughout the Sierra Canyon curriculum, but most specifically in History and English. This class introduces, reinforces, and helps develop the necessary skills students are expected to have entering the Secondary School Program at Sierra Canyon School. These skills include:
  • Time Management
  • Executive Functioning Skills and Techniques
  • Study Strategies for Tests and Quizzes
  • Managing Calendars and the School Planner
  • Setting Up and Maintaining a Notebook
  • Note-taking and Flash Cards
  • Outlining and Clustering
  • Annotating and Marginal Notes
  • Vocabulary Building
