SC Cares Makes Big Impact on Lower Campus
Today, our Pre-K – 6th grade students and teachers set aside their math problems and reading lessons to engage in a variety of service learning projects.
They created inspirational bookmarks for young readers, assembled between 1,100 - 1,200 pencil pouches for foster children, decorated Valentine’s Day cards for the elderly, and braided chew toys for a local animal rescue. Significant life lessons were learned about the importance of actively helping others. "We talk continuously about the need to exercise to grow strong bodies and how to think critically and problem solve effectively to grow strong minds," said Lower School Director, Kris Theodoratos, "As a Lower School learning community, we dedicated a morning of activity in direct service to others with the intention and purpose to grow kind hearts. May we always be inspired by Gandhi’s quote, “you must be the change you wish to see in the world.” Today we were that change in action!"
