Audrey Young '21 Heads to Denver to Compete in Junior Olympics

Audrey Young ’21 is on her way to Denver next week, where she will compete in the Junior Olympics for Fencing.

At the suggestion of a longtime friend, Young tried fencing a little over 3 years ago. Shortly after her introduction to the sport, she quickly developed a passion and talent for it. However, the level at which she now competes takes much more than natural talent to stay on top. “To be a fencer at the Junior Olympics level takes intense commitment to the sport. It is not too hard to balance school/fencing, as long as I stay on top of school work and communicate with my teachers.” She hopes to fence throughout her high school career and possibly into college.

This will be Young’s first trip to the Junior Olympics. She is looking forward to attending with her club team as they compete and support each other throughout the competition. Good luck, Audrey!
