Successful Showing for SC Students at 2019 Latin Convention

On March 29-30, Sierra Canyon Upper Campus Latin students participated for the second year in a row at the California Junior Classical League Convention ("Latin Convention").

This year's convention was held at Miramonte High School in Orinda, CA, and students in attendance were: Youbin Cho ’21, Rose Domzalski ’24, Ava Faustina ’23, George Khouri ’21, and Bruno Kushnir ’23.

Attendees participated in many events, including a Latin-based "escape room" challenge, a STEM challenge in catapult construction, academic testing, and Classical-themed art and costume contest. Sierra Canyon students won awards on the Latin-English derivatives test and the Latin sight reading competition (Domzalski); the graphic arts/drawing contest, original poetry contest, and costume contest (Faustina); the ancient geography, and Classical pentathlon tests (Khouri).

In addition to picking up some ribbons, the SC delegation had a great time, and is looking forward to attending next year's Convention at University High School in Irvine.
