First Annual 9th Grade Breakout Takes Students Off Campus

The Class of 2023 took a break from the norm this week as they headed off-campus for a spirited day of competition and team building.

The first ever 9th Grade Breakout allowed the class to deviate from the traditional school day and foster connections. Before leaving campus, 9th Grade Co-Deans, Ty Nichols and Jon Ellinghouse, presented on topics including school culture, time management, and self-care. Students had some fun working in teams to engineer towers with nothing more than balloons, tape, and their imaginations.

Lindsay Koss, Director of Grades 7-9, sums up the day:

“It was a real joy not only to see the class come together to compete, but also to just enjoy one another’s company. Everyone challenged themselves and moved out of their comfort zone. By the end of the day, it was impossible to tell who was a new or a returning student as they all came back to campus an integrated class."
