5th Grade Hands-On Learning: Writer's Workshop
This week 5th grade had their first Writer’s Workshop lesson of the year.
How is a writer like a sculptor? Our 5th Grade students answered this question by exploring the writing process with playdoh. From brainstorming and drafting ideas to editing by adding colorful details, students had the opportunity for their creativity to shine and to make connections to themselves as writers.
Students were excited and engaged as their projects grew more complex and colorful after each “draft”. They traded feedback and playdoh colors with one another, as they went back to the drawing board after each step. Once the final versions were complete, everyone was eager to show off their finished product!
