Words and Wit: Linguistics Club Reaches for Gold

The Linguistic Club exemplifies the strong commitment to diversity that is such a profound cornerstone of Sierra Canyon.

It promotes the appreciation for and understanding of different languages, some profoundly obscure. Members explore topics including phonology, semantics, syntax, etymology, morphology, et al., and apply these skills to a myriad of different language puzzles. Their ultimate goal is to prepare students to feel confident enough to showcase their understanding of languages in the upcoming North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad at the end of January, and even the International Linguistics Olympiad later in 2020.
