A Message From Jim Skrumbis

A Message From Jim Skrumbis:

I would like to take a moment to express my sorrow for all of the lives lost in the helicopter tragedy on Sunday, January 26th.

As Angelenos, we collectively grieve the loss of a legend in Kobe Bryant, and I know there are families in our community with painfully personal ties to this accident. To all of you, I offer my sincerest condolences. The Sierra Canyon Community is one of true support and I hope that there is some solace in that.

At the Boys' Basketball game on Tuesday night against Campbell Hall, our Varsity Trailblazers took it upon themselves to honor Kobe Bryant by wearing t-shirts bearing his name and observing a moment of silence before the game. A video was shown on the jumbotron honoring all 9 people whose lives were lost, and at the start of the game, they took 8- and 24-second violations.

I was extremely moved by this tribute and I want to thank the boys for sharing this unforgettable moment with all of us. It truly came from a place of love and respect, and I could not be more proud of them.
