The Sierra Canyon Math Team Does it Again!

Once more, we congratulate the Sierra Canyon Math Team!

Last weekend, the Sierra Canyon Varsity Math Team continued their winning streak at the Johns Hopkins Math Tournament, placing 4th out of 35 in the Team Round. Phillip Miao ’22 earned 4th place individually on the infamous Calculus Round.

The Team Round contained two very challenging proof-based assignments under strict limitations of time. This year’s topics were Set Theory and Synthetic Calculus. Teammates also individually took competitions in Algebra, Geometry, and a General Test ranging over any math topic.

Participants on the team were, Youbin Cho ’21, Zack Mazaheri ’21, Phillip Miao ’22, and Gowri Vadmal ’20, along with coach Chris Tillman. The team also reunited and toured the campus with former Math Team Captain, and Sierra Canyon alumnus, Emily Zhai ’18, who is currently studying Mathematics and Computer Science through the Applied and Computational Mathematics Program in the Whiting School of Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.

We are so proud of our SC Mathletes!
