On Saturday, February 15th, Sierra Canyon hosted the Mathleague Middle School Competition for grades 6 - 8. SC students were joined by Larchmont Charter, Crossroads, Brentwood, St. Jane Frances de Chantal, and Manhattan Beach Middle School.

Alex Bai, Dylan Ochoa, and Logan Matthies were among the top four overall scorers. Alex Bai took home a Countdown Round Trophy.

Alex Bai, Dylan Ochoa, Stone Ding, Rose Domzalski, and Logan Matthies have been qualified to compete at (INTER)2SECT, scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 4th in Silicon Valley.
Following their success at
Mathleague, the SC Middle School Math Team competed once again, this time in a 17-team Chapter Competition of the nationally recognized MATHCOUNTS contest. Out of 150 competing students, Alex Bai, placed 1
st overall, and Dylan Ochoa placed 5
th overall. Both competed in the head-to-head elimination round in front of an audience of all participants, parents, and coaches, where Dylan Ochoa advanced to quarter-finals, and Alex Bai went undefeated.
The team placed 2
nd overall and will be advancing to the state competition on Saturday, March 28
th. Also, having a strong showing in the competition were Stone Ding, Peyton Hemann, Hannah LaChapelle, Krishan Lala, Lance Matthies, and Mallika Vairavan. Coaches present were Dr. Sun Lee and Mr. Chris Tillman.
