SC Math Team Places Nationally in Mathleague Contest

The Sierra Canyon Math Team earned a 6th place finish in the mathleague.org nationwide State Championships math contest.

Over 100 schools from states across the U.S. and internationally met in the competition, and Sierra Canyon will be advancing to Nationals in June. Youbin Cho ’21 led the team with a 7th place finish among juniors in the competition and 30th overall—out of 483 contestants. Phillip Miao ’22 placed 9th among sophomores and 31st overall, while Wendy Wang ’23 earned a 10th place finish among freshmen, and Alex Bai ’24 placed 12th among Middle School students.
 
On the proof-based Power Round, the team of Alex Bai, Youbin Cho, Zack Mazaheri ’21, Phillip Miao, Wendy Wang, and Shuming Zhao ’23, placed 5th in the country. The team of Pierre Baza ’21, Laura DeFalco ’20, Nick Kanji ’21, Dylan Ochoa ’24, David Rotblatt ’21, and Gary Wu ’22 placed 28th overall.
