Congratulations to Sierra Canyon's 12th Graduating Class

Last Saturday, Sierra Canyon faculty, families, and administration gathered with the Class of 2020 to celebrate what may be remembered as the most unique graduation ceremony in Sierra Canyon’s history.

After a considerable amount of planning for current regulations and safety measures, a mandatory last-minute change in venue ordered by state officials left just a few short days for our Facilities, Technology, and Event Departments to plan a completely new ceremony. After a miraculous reconfiguration, everyone was ready to celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2020 on the School’s baseball field.

As families arrived, they drove single-file onto the field and were guided to parking spots where they could view the ceremony on a jumbotron at home plate. Thank you to SC Parents, Richard Leible (Kristin '23) who generously donated his expertise in filming the ceremony, and Matt Smyrnos (Jonathan '24) who helped the School acquire the jumbotron and equipment needed. Attendees were able to tune in on their car radios to enjoy congratulatory speeches from Head of School, Jim Skrumbis, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Vimil Lala. Valedictorian, Gowri Vadmal, and Salutatorian, Talha Rafique, also addressed classmates and attendees before diplomas were safely awarded to the 12th graduating class in the School’s history.

Once again, thank you to our families for their flexibility and understanding at this challenging time. Congratulations to Sierra Canyon’s newest alumni, the Class of 2020!
