SC Students Witness Peaceful Transition of Power

This week marked the inauguration of the 46th President of the United States, and Sierra Canyon students both online and on-campus took time to witness this important event.

Teachers and students discussed the many traditions carried out in these ceremonies throughout history and that were still present in what we saw this week. They also noted the challenges presented by COVID-19 and how this affected this year’s inauguration.

Many students took part in a bipartisan “I Spy” activity designed to open students’ eyes to the who’s who and what’s what aspect of the event, and the many historical landmarks in Washington, D.C. Click here to see what students were looking for.

No matter who your candidate is, understanding the importance of the oath of office and the peaceful transition of power is critical to being an informed citizen of the United States.
