SC Mathletics Puts Up Impressive Statistics

The Trailblazer is pleased to once again celebrate the tremendous accomplishments of our Sierra Canyon Mathletes! Please take a look below at the impressive successes our students are celebrating at every level!

Based upon students’ individual performances on an in-person, multi-round contest, SC has 28 students advancing to the State competition.

5^th Grade: 6 students advancing
6^th Grade: 8 students advancing
7^th Grade: 3 students advancing
8^th Grade: 11 students advancing

On the team round of this competition, SC had the following results:

5^th Grade Team: (Chloe C., Kathryn M., Matti M., Jonah P.) tied for 4^th Place
6^th Grade Team: (Harper Z., Thomas L., Baer B., Kathryn M.) tied for 3^rd Place
7^th and 8^th Grade Team: (Shaun M., Nikhil M., Thomas M., Atticus M.) tied for 2^nd Place

CALIFORNIA MATHLEAGUE (6^th – 8^th CML)

The Middle School Math teams placed in the top four in Los Angeles in all three grade levels on the California Math League Contest. Team scores were comprised of the highest scores from the top five competitors in each grade level.

In Los Angeles, Sierra Canyon is 3^rd in 6^th Grade (10^th in state), 1^st in 7^thGrade (8^th in state), and 4^th in 8^th Grade (16^th in state).

While we are celebrating Math, here are a few more of SC’s statistics:

86 students, K–12, participated in the Math Kangaroo international competition last week and weekend.
Ten 5^th – 8^th Grade students submitted their second round of Scholastics’ Hardest Math Challenge, some entering solutions for their grade level and those above them.
The 5^th round of the Caribou Cup math competition, also international with entries from K–12, is coming up during Spring Break. SC has many students in different grade levels ranking in the top 5% in the country and world!
