4th & 5th Grade Scientists Share Their Findings

Sierra Canyon's scientists in the Classes of 2029 and 2030 have been hard at work learning the scientific method!

This week, 4th Grade students conducted their own personal experiments for the first time. After weeks of researching their topic and planning their experiments at school, it was finally time to test their hypothesis. From planting seeds to watching ants build tunnels to testing the amount of iron in cereal, the students enjoyed conducting their experiments and comparing their results on their data tables and graphs. Each student took immense pride in creating their oral presentation board that was showcased to the 3rd Grade classes on March 24, and to their families on March 25.

The 5th Grade expanded upon what they learned in 4th Grade to complete experiments involving bacteria, polymers, and cleaning products. With the collaboration of Ms. Wong in the Technology Lab, students created PowerPoint presentations that highlighted their scientific method. Students then shared their findings through virtual presentations to the Lower School community and families on March 24 and 25.

Without a doubt, conclusions made during this process have positively identified many future scientists we have at the Lower School!
