6th Grade Welcomes Back Solar Car Races

This week the Class of 2028 welcomed back one of SC’s favorite traditions—The annual 6th Grade Solar Car Races.

Students in the 6th Grade have been working diligently on designing, testing, re-designing, and perfecting their solar cars within the classroom for the past five weeks. This project is the culmination of a study unit on renewable energy. This year marked the return of the solar car projects for the 6th Grade since 2019 due to COVID restrictions.

The sun was shining brightly overhead, providing more than enough power to give spectators a great show. Congratulations to this year’s winners:

First Place:
The Night Bolt – Austin Craven, Maxwell Meek, and Albert Ralley

Second Place (Tie):
Electro-Giant – Dumas Luo, Max Vatere, and Matthew Zaya
Electric Monkeys – Liam Haas and Davis Hur

Third Place:
Matricity – Isabella Chiang and Helena DeForest

We are always impressed by your hard work and dedication, 6th Grade! Thank you for bringing this fun-in-the-sun tradition back!
