5th Grade Explores the Writing Process

Recently in 5th Grade, students have been exploring the writing process by comparing a sculptor to a writer.

Students created paper clip holders by progressing through specific phases until they arrived at their “final draft.” They went from the brainstorming phase through drafting, editing, revising, and finally creating their finished products, complete with a title.

Though this project did not involve writing anything, the Class of 2030 was well prepared when they started their first writing unit this week. They are now crafting a persuasive review on something they feel strongly about, such as a favorite restaurant, video game, etc.

This hands-on assignment is a great example of the Learning forward that occurs in our classrooms everyday.
