Welcome to the International Club

This week we thank the International Club for sharing its mission and activities with The Trailblazer.

The International Club is a long-standing student-run organization that honors the rich traditions represented by the diversity of the international students on our Upper Campus.

Club members hail from near and far, and there is a large representation of our students from countries such as Brazil and China. Ming Zhao ’23, a student who moved to California as a freshman from China to attend Sierra Canyon, serves as the club’s president. In their inaugural meeting of the year, Ming and the other students enjoyed moon cakes, traditional treats associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival, which fell on September 10.

Mrs. Alice Lee, Spanish teacher and 9th-10th Grade Level Dean, shared her experiences observing this holiday as a Korean-American, and students made cultural comparisons about the way this festival is celebrated across the world. In the coming months, the club will focus on learning more about traditions and sharing their cultural heritage, including sampling snacks from South America in October.
