Mme. de la Hitte Shares World Language News

Every year in the fall, as the president of the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF), Southern California Chapter, World Languages department member, Madame Ines du Cos de la Hitte, teams up with the Office for Cultural Affairs of the Consulate General of France.

Last Friday, Mme. de la Hitte attended a cocktail party at the Maison de France in Beverly Hills, where she gave a speech sharing all the AATF does to promote the teaching of French thanks to a multitude of activities, contests, professional development, and the French Honor Society.

The American French Film Festival (TAFFF) will run from October 10-16 this year at the DGA in West Hollywood. TAFFF is the largest French Film Festival in North America, presenting newly released movies in France (many are Cannes Festival winners). During this week-long showcase, the press and movie studios are invited to view and buy the rights for several productions.

Again, AATF and TAFFF get together to organize and offer viewing to high school students in Southern California. Schools will come from Santa Barbara, San Juan Capistrano, and San Bernardino. In preparation for the viewing, Mme. de la Hitte’s AATF Committee prepares a massive syllabus with pre- and post-viewing notes.
