4th Grade Travels to Solvang for Overnight Trip

History came to life last week as the Class of 2031 traveled on their first overnight trip to Solvang, California.

Our 4th Grade student's first stop was at La Purisima Mission, where docents dressed in clothing from the 1800s taught students about mission life. From making a nail in the blacksmith shop to learning how to turn wool into yarn and then weave it into a blanket, the students were mesmerized. Later, the class ventured to a second mission in Santa Inez, where they went on a mission scavenger hunt. After they explored the town of Solvang, the day ended with dinner and evening games back at the hotel.

On the second day, students visited the Santa Barbara Presidio, one of four presidios in California. Seeing the cannons that the Spanish soldiers used to protect California’s coast was their most memorable sight of the tour. The trip ended at the beautiful Santa Barbara Courthouse, where students and parents enjoyed lunch and shared their memories of the trip.
