On the weekend of Saturday, February 11th, Sierra Canyon’s Debate Team participated alongside 240 other top debate schools from across the globe in the Stanford Debate Tournament, which is considered to be the most competitive debate tournament in the nation.

Two pairs of SC debaters – Callum Kiser and Sareena Khanal, and Grant Petrusson and Aathil Chaturvedi – made it to the elimination rounds in the Varsity Parliamentary Debate. Callum Kiser was awarded a silver platter for being the 7th best speaker in the entire tournament, with only one point separating him him from being the first place speaker. Kiser received the most number of perfect scores from judges than any other speaker in the competition.

The entire team won trophies for being the top overall debate team in their league for both League tournaments. They will compete in the State Qualifying Tournament at Oaks Christian School from February 24th – February 25th.
