The Lower Campus has the honor of hosting the debut of Birds of a Feather, a play penned by 5th Grade Assistant Teacher Kelsey Wilk! Read on for more information about the play, including show times and how to get tickets.

Last weekend, Birds of a Feather, an original play penned by 5th Grade Assistant Teacher Kelsey Wilk, made its debut on the Lower Campus Amphitheater stage!

The play features several Sierra Canyon School teaching staff and Day Camp members, including Wilk, Jessie Shear (5th Grade Assistant Teacher), Stephanie Shearer (3rd Grade Assistant Teacher), Sam Shear (EDC), and Jason Williams (EDC). These SC staff members, along with other talented performers, form the Figure 8 Troupe, a start-up theatre company based in Simi Valley, California. The Troupe was founded by Wilk, and its mission is “to focus on marginalized people and their stories, raising awareness of the need for all people to be treated with equal importance.”

Birds of a Feather tells the story of Bo, a unique peacock who has always had their besties beside them,” Jessie Shear, who plays Sarah Jessica Peacock, tells us a synopsis of the play. “Now with the talent show coming up, the friends are starting to drift apart, and it's time for Bo to make some choices. Will our hero overcome the status quo and learn that the best thing to be is simply yourself?”

Birds of a Feather
is a family-friendly production that is sure to bring enjoyment to both kids and adults! Bring the whole family to see this beautiful play. Tickets are pay-what-you-can, and you can purchase them on Figure 8 Troupe’s website.

As #NationalTeacherAppreciationWeek comes to a close, celebrate these SC educators by supporting them at Birds of a Feather, playing today, May 5th (7:00 p.m.) through May 6th (2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.).
