Lindsay Sobel ’22: Outstanding Youth of the Year Award

Lindsay Sobel, Class of 2022, was recently honored by the Chatsworth Community Coordinating Council as Outstanding Youth of the Year.

Lindsay also received commendations from United States House Representative Brad Sherman, City of Los Angeles Councilmember Mitchell Englander and Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger. Her volunteer work started as her mitzvah project and has grown tremendously since then and become a significant part of her life. Since July 2016, she has collected, sorted and donated more than 6,500 pairs of new and gently used shoes of all sizes which have been distributed to homeless people throughout Los Angeles and Long Beach.

Lindsay started and runs her own 501(c)(3) non-profit charity, Shoes for Souls, and works with other charities such as Shoes for the Homeless, run by a podiatrist. Knowing that shoes are a necessity that everyone should have, Lindsay has made it her mission to get as many shoes onto the feet of those most in need. She has had a positive impact on thousands of homeless people and continues to look for ways to make even more of a difference in our society.
