Sierra Canyon Takes 1st at the San Diego Math Contest

The Upper School Math team placed 1st in the Competitive Division at UC San Diego’s annual math contest this year, an improvement on an already impressive 4th place finish from last year.

Coach Tillman said, “These students have been working hard all year, and they have earned this. Everyone has been challenging and pushing each other to get stronger, and I like where this team is headed for upcoming years.”

In fact, Sierra Canyon’s leading scores on the contest all came from students grade 10 and younger: Phillip Miao ’22, Youbin Cho ’21, Pierre Baza ’21, Zach Mazaheri ’21, Alex Bai ’24, and Gowri Vadmal ’20. The School’s name is engraved on a plaque commemorating the contest.
