Flannery Branham Kamp '19 Honored by ABC7

Last week, SC’s own Flannery Branham-Kamp ’19 was chosen as one of ABC7’s “Cool Kids”.

Whether she’s here in Southern California or near her grandmother’s home in New Jersey, Flannery is making a difference in thousands of lives.

After interning with California State Assembly Member Jesse Gabriel’s office over the summer, Flannery was nominated to be a “Cool Kid” by one of her intern supervisors who knew about the work she had been doing for refugees. Soon after, ABC7 reached out to Flannery to set up the segment. When asked how she felt about the spotlight, Flannery shares that it was extremely nice to be recognized for work she has done, and she feels very honored to be a “Cool Kid,” but her motivation continues to be assisting with the needs of those around her, “I don’t do any of the work I do for acclaim or acknowledgment; I do it because I genuinely care about these issues, and I care about helping others to the best of my ability.” Flannery believes that any accolades she receives can only help to bring light to the issues she works toward bettering, “Caring about something is bigger than yourself and is the most important thing you can do in your life, I believe.”
