Big Honor for Second Grade Artist

Last weekend, Gemma Rizzotti ’29 was accompanied by Lower School Art Instructor Beth O’Malley to the Riverside Art Center & Museum to accept an award for winning first finalist in the Youth Art Month Regional Art Awards for the California Art Education Association.

Her artwork previously won first place in the Los Angeles finals, and shortly after moved on to regionals, where Rizzotti was the only elementary school student who placed in the competition.

Check out the photos of Rizzotti under her oil painting of a “trailblazing” horse. This piece was created in Mrs. O’Malley’s after-school Oil Painting Class, where this instructor says she was truly blown away by Gemma’s talent and her exceptional accomplishment.
