Math Team takes 3rd at LACC

Congratulations to the Sierra Canyon Math Team for earning 3rd place overall at the annual Los Angeles City College Math Contest on March 2nd

The competition hosted 54 competing schools from across southern California. Phillip Miao ’22, earned a perfect score, landing him in a tie for 1st place. Youbin Cho ’21, earned an 11th place finish, and Alex Bai ’23, rounded out the top-20. With more than 250 students competing, Sierra Canyon was one of only three schools with three students in the top 10%.
 
Coach Chris Tillman says, “All students on the team performed well. They are pushing each other to learn more, and their growth is a direct result of their weekly efforts and training.” Competing students consisted of Rayan Ansari ’21, Alex Bai ’23, Pierre Baza ’21, Gary Chen ’21, Youbin Cho ’21, Laura DeFalco ’20, Milad Jalala ’20, Nick Kanji ’21, Kevin Li ’21, Caimiao Liu ’20, Zack Mazaheri ’21, Phillip Miao ’22, Dave Rotblatt ’21, Gowri Vadmal ’20, Gary Wu ’21, and Jessica Xiao ’21. Congratulations to the entire Math Team on their 3rd place finish!
