Sierra Canyon’s Cum Laude Society Inducts 18 New Members
This week, proud family members gathered in the Upper Campus gymnasium to witness the induction of 18 new members to the Sierra Canyon Chapter of the Cum Laude Society.
The annual ceremony is the 7th of its kind to be held on the Upper Campus. Director of College Counseling, Stephanie Rubin, gave a brief history of the prestigious society, followed by this year’s faculty address given by Associate Head of School, Deborah Monroe. Members were presented with gold pins, by Jim Skrumbis, Head of School and Tom Perry, Upper School Director. New inductees and their families were honored at a luncheon reception after the ceremony, where current member, Joshua Park ’19 gave the annual student address.
Modeled after the Phi Beta Kappa system, the Cum Laude Society was founded in 1906 to recognize superior scholarship of students at the secondary school level. Over 100 years later, it continues to promote the values of excellence (Areté), justice (Diké), and honor (Timé).
Congratulations to the newest members of the Sierra Canyon Chapter of The Cum Laude Society:
