Brooke Mostman '22 Wins LAHJA Junior Medal Final

Once again, Sierra Canyon's own Brooke Mostman '22, is making a name for herself as an accomplished Equestrian.

Now nearing 5 years of serious riding, Mostman continues to be unstoppable. Most recently she walked away as the Champion at the 2019 LAHJA Junior Medal Final. Just another perfect example of the drive and dedication this young athlete continues to exhibit while balancing school and a full competition schedule.

BURBANK, Calif.– The Gold Coast October Horse Show was proud to host the 2019 LAHJA Junior Medal Final Presented by LEGISequine.com and the LAHJA Senior Medal Final. Medal finalists participated in their first round on Thursday evening, their second round on Friday evening, and the top ten returned for their final round and work-off on Saturday evening.
The LAHJA Junior Medal Final came down to four riders in the work-off: Brooke Mostman trained by Stephanie Haney, Madelyn Esses trained by Elvenstar Farm, Mia Jones trained by Carolyn Biava, and Alexandra Farfaras trained by Elvenstar. Riders were asked to canter fence 9, demonstrate a change of lead, canter fence 10, trot fence 1, hand-gallop fence 2, halt, and return to the line.

In the end, it was 14-year-old Brooke Mostman who took home the title of champion. Brooke piloted her seven-year-old Dutch Warmblood, Anakin, to the win. “Since I went first in the work-off, I tried to carefully follow the instructions and do everything they asked,” she explained. “I was a little concerned about the two flying lead changes because my horse is still a bit green. I am so proud of him.”

“It feels surreal to win this medal final because it has been a long-term goal of mine,” Brooke added. “I tried to give it my best and give my horse a confident ride. I’ve had Anakin for four months now. He’s so sweet and he has gotten so brave.” Alexandra Farfaras trained by Elvenstar Farm took the reserve championship honors and in third place overall was Mia Jones trained by Carolyn Biava.
