Visit From the Consulate General of France

Monsieur Olivier Ngo, Cultural Attaché of the Consulate General of France, spoke to Madame du Cos de La Hitte’s advanced French Language students about the importance of France within the global community. M. Ngo’s presentation was punctuated by short videos, including songs, cartoons, and charts, which illustrated the important position of the French economy in the world. Students also learned about France’s rich legacy in academics and culture, including many Nobel Prizes in the sciences and literature and numerous achievements in math. The worlds of high fashion, gastronomy, and technology were also highlighted. Students particularly enjoyed hearing about the French education system, including the wide range of opportunities that France offers to American exchange students. The spirited discussion concluded by reinforcing the importance and benefits of studying French toward future careers in a multitude of fields. Mme. De la Hitte noted that everyone was very engaged and inquisitive and asked enlightening questions.

 

M. Ngo enjoyed his day on the Upper Campus and complimented both classes on their maturity and culture. We hope to welcome him back to campus in the future to share more about the possibilities we unlock when we study the French language!
