Lower School Green Team Stays Busy!

This inspired our Elementary Green Team to create statement posters. They also brainstormed ideas they can suggest to companies to ban the use and distribution of single-use plastic straws.

 

On another project, Lower School Green Team members walked around campus and picked and pressed flowers. Then they displayed them in a heart-shaped wooden frame and gifted them to their moms for Mother’s Day.

 

The students also have been learning about the ways in which eating less meat can improve the health of our planet. Andy Jacobson, from California Fresh Foods, sponsored their event by preparing some of their favorite foods, along with vegan alternatives: vegan nuggets, vegan mac and cheese, vegan meatless balls, and pizza bites. For dessert, they enjoyed vegan chocolate chip cookies made from chickpeas. The fan favorite was the vegan meatless balls and the cookie, of course! Even though the students were able to tell the difference, they still enjoyed every bite. However, the cookie was so good it stumped them all. No one could believe it was vegan!

 

Finally, for the last Green Team meeting of the year, the team decorated recycled coffee cans with patterned duct tape and planted succulent plants to gift to their dads for Father’s Day.
