Sierra Canyon's Cum Laude Society Inducts 26 New Members

This week, proud family members gathered at the Porter Valley Country Club to witness the induction of 26 new members to the Sierra Canyon Chapter of the Cum Laude Society.

Director of College Counseling Stephanie Rubin gave a brief history of the prestigious society, followed by this year’s faculty address provided by History Department Chair Ryan Staude. Kenedy Quandt ’22 gave the Student Address, followed by the presentation of new members’ gold pins by Jim Skrumbis, Head of School, and Tom Perry, Upper School Director. New inductees and their families were honored at a luncheon reception after the ceremony, where current member Samantha Hariz ’22 gave the final student address.

Modeled after the Phi Beta Kappa system, the Cum Laude Society was founded in 1906 to recognize superior scholarship of students at the secondary school level. Over 100 years later, it continues to promote the values of excellence (Areté), justice (Diké), and honor (Timé).
