SC's Chamber Ensemble Is Music to Our Ears

Sierra Canyon's talented string musicians have been on a roll these past couple of weeks, showing off their skills at multiple performances.

On Thursday, March 9, a group of forty students from 1st and 4th Grade, along with the Sierra Canyon Chamber Ensemble, delighted the entire Upper Campus with their rendition of Frere Jacques. Among the sung languages of English, Spanish, Mandarin, French, and American Sign during World Languages Week, this performance represented the language of music. The students rehearsed tirelessly in music class with Dr. Deutsch and Mr. Pourghazi, as well as in their string enrichment classes. If you missed their performance, enjoy by clicking here.
 
In another stunning event, fourteen Sierra Canyon Chamber Ensemble members took the stage on Sunday, March 12, at the Imagination Stage at Disney California Adventure Park. They played an impressive 13 pieces, ranging from the "Star-Spangled Banner" to fiddle pieces like "Cripple Creek" to classical favorites such as "French Folk Song." The Sierra Canyon violinists and cellists are not slowing down anytime soon, as more exciting performances are lined up this year. One Night Only on April 20 at El Portal Theater in North Hollywood will feature both Lower and Upper Campus musicians. And stay tuned for the Sierra Canyon Conservatory end-of-year concert, which comprises Suzuki Strings, Sierra Canyon Chamber Ensemble, and students taking private after-school lessons with Dr. Deutsch or Mr. Pourghazi on May 22 will surely be a hit.
