Student Life

Assemblies

Lower School students participate in grade level, theme-based performances during a scheduled assembly. The Assembly Program teaches presentation skills procedures for all students, and provides an appropriate arena in which to develop self-confidence and public speaking abilities before a large group. In addition, monthly Character Education assemblies are held, which teach our students to become trustworthy, respectful, responsible, fair, caring, empathetic, and contributing citizens to the world.

Field Trips

Experiential learning is an important part of the Sierra Canyon education. Teachers frequently use field trips to extend or enhance ideas discussed in the classroom. Notification is always sent home prior to taking students from campus. Buses are used for all field trips.

Beginning in 2nd grade, extended trips are introduced. These “field study” excursions not only enhance the curriculum, but also teach our students about the importance of group living, leadership, and team building skills. The following are samples of extended day trips:
