The Sierra Canyon Upper Campus seeks a Wellness Director for the 2026-2027 school year. The Director of Wellness leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate wellness program for students in Grades 7–12. This role promotes a proactive, school-wide culture of mental health, emotional well-being, and resilience through programming, student support, and faculty collaboration. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Other duties may be assigned. 

Program Development and Implementation

  • Design and deliver wellness curriculum for the grades 7–12 Advisory program  
  • Collaborate on and support wellness-related content for school assemblies  
  • Lead the Wellness Ambassador Program with student volunteers to design and implement wellness initiatives  
  • Plan and coordinate co-curricular activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being across campus  

Student Support

  • Provide individual wellness coaching to students during designated office hours
  • Serve as a resource for students navigating social-emotional challenges  
  • Identify students in need of additional support and make referrals to appropriate outside professionals when necessary  
  • Assist with crisis response and management in collaboration with school leadership and counseling professionals
  • Participate actively on Student Support Teams for Grades 7–9 and 10–12  

Faculty and Staff Development

  • Develop and facilitate professional development sessions for faculty on topics related to student mental health, wellness, and adolescent development  
  • Partner with faculty to integrate wellness practices into the broader student experience  

Curriculum and Instruction

  • Teach at least one course related to wellness, psychology, or human development, as assigned  

Qualifications:

To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty effectively. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Advanced degree in counseling, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, or a related field  
  • Experience working with adolescents in an educational or clinical setting  
  • Strong understanding of adolescent development, mental health, and wellness practices  
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills  

Expected compensation falls within the range of $90,000 - $115,000, depending upon experience.

The Sierra Canyon Athletic Department is seeking an Athletic Trainer. The duties of the Athletic Trainer include, but are not limited to, prevention of athletic injuries, recognition, evaluation, and immediate care of athletic injuries, rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries, health care administration, and professional development and responsibility as specified in the Domains of the NATA Certified Athletic Trainer. The Athletic Trainer serves as a liaison between physicians, coaches, athletes, and parents. The Athletic Trainer ensures that players participate only when physically able and that any physician instructions are understood and followed. The Athletic Trainer will coordinate with the Sports Medicine team and the Athletic Director to ensure staffing of the athletic training room and coverage for all required events.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Exercise supervisory responsibility for student athlete safety and discretion in making meaningful safety and health decisions
  • Provide first aid, injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention for students
  • Act decisively and prudently in emergency and life-threatening situations 
  • Provide coverage at home events and practices
  • Conduct IMPACT testing, organization, and clearance for all teams
  • Develop and implement injury management protocols and emergency action plans
  • Provide injury reports to coaches and other school personnel and parents on injuries and status of student athletes under treatment
  • Maintain all forms, reports, and medical records and treatment logs related to athletic injuries, student rehabilitation, and CIF required athletic clearance
  • Provide injury reports to coaches and other school personnel on injuries and status of student athletes with severe injuries
  • Acting as liaison between coaches and athletes in injury matters
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and effective athletic training room
  • Travel with teams to away meets, events, and competitions when assigned

Qualifications:

  • Years of experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience at the secondary school level

  • Education: Must hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Health and Human Performance, Exercise Science, or another related field that the athletic training curriculum is in from a 4-year university/college. Master’s degree is preferable.

  • Certifications/Licenses: Must be BOC certified and be in good standing with NATA and BOC. NPI number required. Must be current in First Aid/CPR/AED at a BLS level or higher.

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must communicate effectively with all department members as well as with all grade level students, instructional faculty, and athletic community.

  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic math skills required for accurate records, score keeping, time sheets, and department inventories.

  • REASONING ABILITY: Must be able to use independent thinking and judgement in situations regarding students and other employees in the department.  Problem solving, conflict resolution, and student advocacy skills are all a part of this position.

The Sierra Canyon Upper Campus seeks a dynamic and experienced History teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge of their discipline and a passion for historical study. Candidates should demonstrate abilities to develop students' historical thinking skills, foster students' development as informed and ethical citizens of the world, collaborate effectively with colleagues, and teach research and writing skills.

Successful candidates will have a bachelor's degree in history, with an advanced degree and experience in teaching in independent schools. The strongest applicants will have experience teaching AP classes (United States, European and World History, Micro and Macro Economics, or United States Government), and/or experience teaching middle school classes.

Full-time teachers at Sierra Canyon are responsible for five class sections, a grade level advisory, and supporting community activities throughout the year. Classes meet four times a week in an eight-day rotating schedule.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Education: BA in History Required, MA or Ph.D. in History preferred.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of teaching in independent schools, with experience teaching AP classes and/or Middle School classes preferred.

Teaching Expectations:

  • Collaboratively designing curriculum and aligning curriculum with course team teachers
  • Help the department chair meet the department goals and the School's mission
  • Design skills-based formative and summative assessments that accurately reflect mastery of content knowledge and skill

Sierra Canyon seeks Lower School candidates for the Associate Teacher position who will work with the classroom lead teacher in specific grade levels, Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5, to maintain a learning environment that supports the Mission and Core Values of the School, beginning in August 2026. Description of Major Expectations

This position includes and is not limited to the following expectations:   

  • Work with teachers and staff to ensure the greatest academic, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development as possible for all students.   
  • Actively teach with a full understanding of Sierra Canyon’s core and affective curriculum in mind, reinforcing the School’s programs like Singapore Math, Writers Workshop, Fundations, Guided Reading, our social emotional learning, et al.
  • Communicate to community members with dignity and respect, maintaining a professional attitude and confidentiality as necessary.  
  • Provide instructional and clerical support for the lead classroom teacher.  
  • Support and assist children in learning class material under the lead teacher's direction and guidance including whole and small group, and one-on-one instruction.
  • Lead class when asked as directed by the lead teacher and administration.   
  • Provide students with personalized support and attention in different frameworks common to the academic day including group, small and individual classes and centers.  
  • Become familiar with the pedagogy, materials, and resources that the School provides.   
  • Faithfully and knowledgably report on student growth and challenges, observing any concerns or praise that is noteworthy and necessary to assure student progress including those reports that require discretion and sensitivity.   
  • Supervise students at all times of the day to ensure safety and health including, but not limited to the playground, specialist classes, recess and lunch, et al.   
  • Maintain all classroom resources in an organized and intentional fashion commensurate with lead teacher and administrative direction.   
  • Participate in relevant experiential learning opportunities like field trips when necessary.
  • Assist in any special events, projects or duties as directed by Sierra Canyon administration.   
  • Help to maintain a clean, neat, and organized classroom, and promote healthy personal hygiene habits of students.  
  • Engage in other duties as assigned by the Lower School Director. 

Professional Qualifications 

  • Experience working with elementary aged children in a school setting preferred. 
  • Experience working in an independent school environment preferred. 
  • A minimum of a college degree and teacher certification.   
  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career in education.

Sierra Canyon School is seeking a passionate and experienced Spanish teacher to serve as a full-time long-term substitute beginning in August 2026 from the start of the academic year ending in December 2026

Teaching Responsibilities: 

  • The position involves teaching a combination of five sections of Spanish, ranging from Spanish I to III. Student-centered methodologies and experience teaching collaboratively with colleagues are key attributes of this position. 
  • The candidate must also demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively on team teaching and horizontal and vertical alignment. 
  • Teachers are expected to meet with students outside of class for support, communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues. 
  • Other responsibilities include those that are normally part of a private independent school commitment such as weekly duties and positive interactions with students, parents, colleagues as well as membership in the community by attending different events.

  • Experience: 1-2 years of teaching in the sciences at the middle or high school level
