Service Learning

Service Learning teaches commitment, responsibility, organization, time management, leadership and the joy of giving to others. It provides opportunities for personal growth, constructive interactions, positive feelings and the development of lifelong skills. Students are empowered to see the significant impact they can have in the community as they learn the valuable habits of being productive volunteers.

Lower School Service Projects

Every Lower School students in Pre-Kindergarten – 6th grade participates in a grade-level Service Learning project. These activities are curriculum based and are created and implemented by the grade level teachers and Service Learning Coordinator.

Examples are Sierra Canyon students bring joy to residents of a senior residential facility; supporting the work of an elephant sanctuary in Tennessee; sponsoring a canned food drive for a local food bank; making blankets for rescue dogs and volunteering at a nearby non-profit that sends packages to our military personnel who are overseas.
