Sierra Canyon's Upper Campus highlighted student photographers' artistic growth this spring through two distinct showcases—one on campus and one engaging a wider regional audience.

The Upper Campus photography competition, open to all students regardless of course enrollment, drew submissions reflecting a wide range of student perspectives. Brayden M. ’27 earned first place for his piece Be Great, followed by Laura S. ’28 in second place with Where the Waves Remember, and Jake B. ’29 in third place with Witness to the Sky.

In addition to campus achievements, Sydney D. ’28 and Jack L. ’27 were selected from a competitive pool of submissions for More Than A Document, a community exhibition presented by Same Difference Co. and Valley Views SFV Media. The showcase features 14 student photographers from eight schools and colleges across the San Fernando Valley, inviting participants to use the medium as a form of visual storytelling rooted in presence, labor, and lived experience within BIPOC communities. Their inclusion places them among a select group of young artists contributing to a broader regional dialogue.

Together, these experiences reflect a program where students use digital photography as both an art form and a mode of personal expression. By exploring a wide range of styles, subject matter, and techniques, they create original, expressive compositions that reflect their perspective and voice.
