Fifty-five Sierra Canyon students earned recognition on this year's National Spanish Exam, highlighting their hard work and achievement in the study of Spanish.
Sierra Canyon encourages our students to keep striving for excellence in all that they do. Our classes often offer extra challenges and opportunities to achieve at the highest tiers of national standards, and our students took this to heart, rising to the occasion with distinction.
Administered by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP), the National Spanish Exam is a standardized assessment consisting of two 30-question sections. The first section, Content (grammar and vocabulary), measures what students have learned in the classroom, while the second, Proficiency (reading and listening), assesses their ability to understand written and spoken Spanish. Students scoring above the 50th percentile receive an Honorable Mention, while those scoring above the 75th percentile earn Bronze, Silver, or Gold Medal distinctions.
