Sierra Canyon students marked Earth Day through student-led experiences that connected awareness with action across both campuses.
At the Upper Campus, the week began with a Monday Morning Meeting presentation by Kiana V. ’26. Rooted in the work of her club, Diplomacy for a Greener Future, she guided students through the real-world impacts of climate change and the power of small, everyday choices. Her message reflected the club’s broader focus on international environmental policy and sustainability initiatives, encouraging peers to think globally while making thoughtful decisions in their own lives.
Later in the week, the same spirit carried across the Lower Campus on Earth Day, where the Green Team led a No-Waste Lunch initiative to encourage students to reduce single-use waste and build more sustainable habits. Dressed in blues, greens, browns, and yellows, students brought the colors of the natural world onto campus as they put those choices into practice. The Green Team also prepared and distributed California wildflower seeds and commemorative keychains made from reusable materials, extending the day’s message beyond the classroom. The Parent Association also added a celebratory touch with “dirt cups,” a playful dessert layered with chocolate pudding, crushed cookies, and gummy worms.
Taking that commitment beyond campus, 7th Grade students partnered with Volunteers Cleaning Communities for a morning of service. Working alongside community members, they helped clean surrounding neighborhoods, connecting environmental stewardship with civic responsibility in a tangible, real-world way.
These efforts reflect something Sierra Canyon nurtures in every student—a genuine sense of responsibility to their community, expressed not only in words but in meaningful contribution and woven into the experience of being a Trailblazer.
