This week, the Sierra Canyon community gathered in the Feinberg Family Gym for the annual 8th Grade Tribute, marking the culmination of the Middle School journey for the Class of 2030.
Incoming Head of School Stephanie Rubin opened the ceremony by welcoming families, faculty, and students to the milestone event. Director of Grades 7–9 Lindsay Koss then introduced the central portion of the program, a long-standing tradition that reinforces the School's commitment to character alongside academic achievement. As each student processed across the stage, Middle School Dean Jenny Hernandez read three distinct character words selected by faculty and peers to highlight that student's unique strengths, talents, and contributions to the campus community.
Representing the student body, Derby B. ’30 spoke about the academic and personal milestones that shaped their time in Middle School. He emphasized that everyday moments and faculty encouragement were where true growth occurred, noting that these experiences added up far more than the class realized as they prepared to step into the responsibilities of Upper School. "The friendships we built here are not just people we sat next to in class," he shared. "They became teammates, lab partners... and people who helped shape who we are becoming."
Sierra Canyon congratulates the Class of 2030 on this achievement and looks forward to their continued success on the Upper Campus.
