Sierra Canyon students across both campuses have earned outstanding distinction on the National Latin Exam, which highlights achievements in Latin and classical studies.
The National Latin Exam is administered to more than 100,000 students worldwide each year, and measures students' proficiency in Latin language, comprehension, and knowledge of Roman culture and history. From our Lower to Upper Campus, Sierra Canyon is proud to celebrate 26 students earning gold and silver medals, along with 26 students receiving magna cum laude and cum laude honors.
This year’s results reflect both the depth of Sierra Canyon’s Latin program and a consistent standard of excellence. Leading these honors, Danny M. ’26 received an invitation to apply for the Maureen O'Donnell Scholarship for Academic Excellence in Classics, awarded by the American Classical League. This distinction, reserved for select graduating seniors, recognizes sustained achievement in Latin and Greek studies and supports further collegiate study. Additionally, 6th Grade student Grayson C. ’32 earned a perfect score on the exam—an exceptional accomplishment at the very start of his Latin studies.
Students begin their study of Latin in 6th Grade and can advance through AP Latin in the Upper School, the program’s culminating course. This year’s exam included participants at every stage of that progression. The assessment recognizes achievement across four tiers, with Summā Cum Laude as the highest honor.
